for the love of dahlias.
Bloom Tide started with a small patch of dahlias that grew into the idea that I could sell their tubers to support my plant buying habit. I fell hard for their beautiful blooms, and that quickly sparked an obsession to find and grow the harder to find varieties.
The head sized blooms of the giant ones drew Jake in, and now together, we have built a farm focused on growing dahlias for tubers.
We grow these flowers next to our home in the town I grew up in and not too far away from the High School my husband and I graduated from. Every truckload of compost has been shoveled and spread by hand. Grandma’s old tiller has been revived to fulfill a new dream. It’s important that our growing practices bring health to the land.
The growing population of bees and butterflies and singing birds all signal that we are headed in the right direction. Turns out, my grandma had a dahlia garden, Jake's grandma had one, and our neighbors grandma too. Flowers bring people together, and I look forward to meeting the people that this flower growing adventure brings into my life.
In addition to dahlias, we love our kitties Mac and Charlie, trips to the local coffee shop–latte for him, sweet spicy chai for me–and will drop everything to go watch the sunset from our favorite perch on Scenic Drive.
Join us as we grow Bloom Tide into your favorite source for dahlia tubers and flower hub in our local community.
